Special Needs Transportation

Rider Eligibility

District students with disabilities, as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), may qualify for transportation as a related service. Eligibility is determined by the student's Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee.

Once eligibility is confirmed, transportation services are detailed in the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The ARD Facilitator generates a Transportation Information Sheet, which is sent to the Transportation Department. The student is then assigned to a route, and their information is provided to the assigned driver and aide.

Within three (3) days, the driver will contact the parent or guardian to:
 

• Introduce themselves and the aide,
• Confirm pick-up and drop-off times, and
• Provide the pick-up and drop-off location.
